Oh for opera!

With the autumn Heber Opera production of Rusalka coming up I’m delighted that the Director has chosen my design for the poster. The base photo was taken back in the summer at Scotney Castle, although I did try various photos from my collection of ponds and pools. I am also working on the programme biographies as well as attending rehearsals to take photographs of the cast for the website and the programme if needed.

I still have some props and set to make, although I have finished with the wood sprites ‘costume kit’ and I am very pleased with the leafed-gauntlets..simple and effective (and better than the girls holding twigs I think).

I am really pleased that my photography is able to be used. I am no professional but it’s good to have a record of the operas at last. It gives material for Heber’s Facebook and website, which is so vital these days.
I need to get cracking on the set soon. I have ideas in my head for the ‘water portal’ and ‘the witch’s portal’. How I envy the professional companies with their big budgets! And I must remember to get out one of the dead bodies in my attic…yes, it looks as though one of the corpses from a previous opera will get to see the light of day again!
